[ Important Information ]

The advanced driver development course is based on the principles of advanced and defensive driving. Advanced driver development will enable drivers to obtain the appropriate attitude and appropriate skills in hazard perception and vehicle control.

As an advanced driver you will learn to control your vehicle with precision, drive with concentration and awareness, anticipate the actions and mistakes of others, act appropriately and always leave a comfortable safety margin.

Defensive driving is a set of fundamental principles which, when combined in a planned system of driving, coupled to the correct attitude and level of skill will guide your actions.

The aim of the Drivemaster Training Limited advanced driver development course is to improve driver awareness of other road users and management of the space around the vehicle. This is achieved by applying a six-stage process of:

  • Attitude
  • Concentration
  • Observation
  • Anticipation
  • Planning
  • Action

Whilst the course is primarily geared towards fleet car drivers, its content can be adapted to suit all standards of driver, whether vocational or non-vocational, company driver or fleet operator. The Drivemaster Training Limited advanced driver development course training package cover drivers of LGVs, minibuses, light vans and cars.

Advanced driver development training is delivered through theoretical and practical training sessions. Modern, computer based training packages are utilised, where appropriate, to enhance the learning process. Drivers are encouraged to be self-critical and to consider their attitude towards driving in general and towards other road users. The practical ‘hands on’ element of training will involve the demonstration and practice of the art of commentary driving.

Working in partnership with the customer, Drivemaster Training Limited will endeavour to provide customer employees with the necessary skills and attitude to enable them to reduce the number of avoidable accidents and their associated costs.

Bad drivers have accidents, good drivers avoid accidents, defensive drivers avoid other drivers’ accidents.

Avoiding being involved in any accident reduces the chance of death and injury, and it reduces the financial costs of accidents; including loss of customers, additional transport costs, absence of key employees and, of course, increased insurance costs. Drivers that drive defensively invariably arrive at their destination more relaxed and in a healthier frame of mind.
