| Training Needs Analysis is a
process based on a systematic, iterative, three-phase, product
based approach which provides an auditable trail of analysis
to justify and enable design of specialist training and procurement,
where necessary, of training equipment. The output of the process
may be defined as: |
| |
| “the identification of training
requirements and the most cost effective means of meeting those
requirements” |
| |
| TNA – Three-Phase
Process |
| |
Phase 1 – The Scoping Study |
| |
| During Phase 1 of the TNA Drivemaster Training Limited will assist the customer to prepare an outline of
the TNA strategy for the project and provide the parameters
of the new or changed operational requirement. The scoping study
defines the TNA management, programming and resourcing within
the boundaries of policy, assumptions and constraints consequently
setting the parameters for Phase 2 of the TNA. |
| |
| The product of this phase of the
TNA process is the Scoping Report. |
| |
Phase 2 – TNA Development |
| |
| At Phase 2 Drivemaster Training Limited training
analysts will produce an operational task statement, provide
high-level training objectives, recommend for endorsement the
most cost effective training solution and establish an implementation
plan and evaluation strategy.
Phase 2 of the TNA is sub-divided into four deliverables:
|
| |
|
• Deliverable
1 – Operational Task Analysis - The first
deliverable establishes and prioritises the
operational performance, conditions and standards for individual
job holders and must consider any
sub-team tasks and/or command tasks for the new or changed operational
requirement. |
| |
| •
Deliverable 2 –
Training Gap Analysis - Deliverable 2 identifies
the training gap between the new
operational need and current training provision in terms of
knowledge, skills and attitude. At this
stage the decision to “do nothing” or agree the
requirement for extra training can be made. It represents
the requirement which needs to be filled in order to deliver
the required capability. |
| |
| •
Deliverable 3 –
Training Options Analysis - The third deliverable
looks at different methods and/or
media which will bridge the training gap. |
| |
| •
Deliverable 4 –
Final Report - The Final report provides the
requirement and the endorsed training
solution, the implementation issues and Post project Evaluation
strategies and the full audit trail
to all the previous TNA products. |
| |
| The product from this phase of
the TNA process is an endorsed training solution, implementation
plan and an evaluation strategy. |
| |
Phase 3 – Post Project Evaluation |
| |
| The Post Project Evaluation
assesses and reports the effectiveness of the management of
the TNA process as well as the endorsed training solution in
meeting the operational requirements and completes the TNA process.
The Post Project Evaluation shall be conducted by the customer,
assisted (where necessary) by Drivemaster Training Limited
Project Management team.
|
| |
| The product of this phase of the
TNA process is an assessment of the management of, and solution
provided by, the TNA. |
| |
| Whether for individual, group
or company need, the TNA will determine the training requirement
and the most cost effective training solution to address that
requirement.
The TNA will analyse the operational performance and provide
training objectives upon which the training solution will
be based and measured. It will recommend the most appropriate
training methods and/or media and will provide a plan for
the implementation of the training solution. Additionally
the TNA will provide a firm benchmark for validation and evaluation.
|
| |
| Maintaining or Improving
Operational Capability |
| |
| Achievement of operational capability
depends upon the three major elements that are modeled at Figure
1.1 below. The TNA has to analyse the new or changed Operational
Capability and its impact on both Equipment Performance and
Logistics Support to identify any changes to Human Performance.
This approach is necessary to provide the recommendation for
the most cost effective training solution. |
